I think its a good , idea
I think however that the "furniture" type gears should be made by collectors/crafters, using suitable materials like wood, bone, stone slabs, etc
This especially since some of the collectors/crafters out there now are really kinda pointless.
The house could be selected from of the "non entrable" houses in the cities or towns

No! It's bad enough I have to leave a big city, the hub of civilization, and go out into the jungle and fight drakes and giants and trolls just to get paper and leather! The last thing I want to do is carry 50 granite slabs out into the woods and fight Rotscale just so I can find the guy who builds couches.

i want house!!!
instead of paying xxx,xxx gold for it you should also have the option of building it yourself
you can use what ever materials you like, but keep in mind making a house out of feathers or out of linen might be out of the question, i would luv to see a fur house on the top of the shiverpeaks , or a wood house with scale's roofing, so you get blinding when you look at it

Maybe, but how many Soldiers from 1190 AD do you know that had their own mansion?

wow
well, all the stuff we have said here about adding this or that to the guild hall has been said in here
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=37949
lets not get the *homes* thread mixed up and get it locked or merged *grin*
homes as part of the hall, yeah, as a option, but not forced.
what about the folks that ether never join a guild for whatever reason, or keep getting tossed in the trash by the *ahem* more focused guilds that want you to be on all day, every day, and if your not, well, you just taking up a slot that a 24-7 guy would be more usefull filling? Hmmm?
also, dont forget the smaller guilds. if they did the merger thing, what about them? would YOU want to loose the house you set up and worked ages on to fill with cool stuff, just cause it clashes with the spot the *bigger* guilds officer poped HIS house in?
make it optional, and maybe slightly cheaper for a in guild home, theres usually plenty of room at the edges of the islands. and make sure that in GvG, all doors are locked, so no one can hide in their homes then ambush ^^
pets staying at nome, not bad ^^ saves selling them to that tamer guy, i dont fully trust him, he looks dodgey to me....
then i could have a couple of pets without selling.
theres no reason you cant make stuff at home, like food and beer ect, so long as it is sort of decorative, it dosent do anything, its like a prop if you will.
storeage...maybe, but if your guild did the personal store setup, even if you got both that AND the house store, they would be the same box, its only fair.
why should some people get 2 boxes per character of personal stuff, just cause they are in a guild?

4.Guild Halls are already expensive, and having 1 home for 1 person cost 200k, thats WAY more expensive then guild hall itself.

or. they could just add house's to the guild islands, each player gets a lil house.
that would the make the guild halls worth it, there just boring atm

Well, many collectors set up camp just outside the city/village gates, so It wouldnt be to much of a worry.
But to put your mind at ease, I think the merchants should be able to sell most furniture as well. I just didnt like the idea of getting a couches from killing Rotscale, etc. Its hard as it is to get drops of stuff to make paper and leather already. (even if I probably could salvage leather from the couches)

Eh, I don't really see the point in having a house... I think a guild is close enough. I think they could improve a lot of the guilds though...

Kai, a house is usefull for more than just standing about in...
for one, its a small isolated PRIVATE place you can take someone, say, your rl honey...your rl girlfriend/boyfriend or spouse/partner.
(assuming you want to do that sorta thing in game, or so on.)
this means you dont get told off if your in a guild and you started sweet talking them in the hall ^^. and what if your sweetie isnt in your guild? you can at least take them to your house and show them all the neat stuff you killed
as to Guild halls are good enough....ok, maybe they are to those who want to join a guild with a cape that has one. but what about those that have no cape, cause they dont like capes? they cant have a hall, so a house is a good alternative for a small guild that say, has less than 10 memebers and is casual.
or for those that dont want guilds at all.
yes, yes, i know its called guild wars....heard that too amny times now, yadda,yadda...but there are loners out there, and those that dont wanna join. a house gives them something to aim at, since they have usually got no intention of joining a guild, or even making one just for themselves.
think of houses as an alternative to a guild hall if you are a small guild or a loner.

OK the mansion idea is overpriced and dropping furni would suck bigtime. It would just be ur HQ where u d invite peeps to party, it would be premade. It would absoultely suck if the houses were too expensive... It would just lead to ANOTHER community breakdown :P it would be great if u got one after finishing the storyline... or a series of new (hard) quests I say this should be made... seriously cause this is an idea... besides i dun care if its a strategy or shooter or RPG or cheap arcade game if i like it

Really? lets hear your examples then.
for one, its a small isolated PRIVATE place you can take someone, say, your rl honey...your rl girlfriend/boyfriend or spouse/partner.

Like I said, sweet talk them using the Whisper feature.
as to Guild halls are good enough....ok, maybe they are to those who want to join a guild with a cape that has one. but what about those that have no cape, cause they dont like capes? they cant have a hall, so a house is a good alternative for a small guild that say, has less than 10 memebers and is casual.

Er, so what? If your guild doesn't have a cape or guild hall and you don't like it, leave and go somewhere else or what not. It's really not that hard. You can be casual in a guild hall, I always am. And FYI it's Guild Wars not House Wife Wars.
yes, yes, i know its called guild wars....heard that too amny times now, yadda,yadda...but there are loners out there, and those that dont wanna join. a house gives them something to aim at, since they have usually got no intention of joining a guild, or even making one just for themselves.
If you're a loner then who would you be showing your house to exactly? Just buy a guild and a cape that's unique to you. It only costs 2,100 for all of it which, being a loner, isn't going to be hard to do since you're working for everything on your own.
think of houses as an alternative to a guild hall if you are a small guild or a loner.
Again, why would you have a house if you're a loner? Guild halls are in no way bad for small guilds either, they are great, you can wander around in a huge back yard. I suggest the fire one because if you venture out in your play area you can find a cool head room place. It's perfect for any small guild, as are a lot of others.
|
All in all, I don't see the point of a house. Besides, if you're a loner, getting up enough money to buy a house would be around as much as a guild hall, and a guild hall is better than a house in many ways, so I'd just go ahead and get a little more money to buy the house. And if you are a loner, you need to realize that this is a cooperative game, you are to simple minded if you think that because you are a warrior who can run through everything that you're awesome and don't need anyone.
